AMBROSINI SUPPORTS ZLATAN
There have been a number of rumours that AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has fallen out of it number of his teammates, but the captain of the club Massimo Ambrosini has come out in support of the 30-year-old striker.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has always been viewed as a controversial character wherever he has played during his highly successful career. His record of having won the domestic league title in each of the past eight seasons with three different clubs came to an end recently. Still, he remains one of the finest talents in the game and has been linked with a move to Manchester city in the summer, which will see him reunited with his former manager Roberto Mancini.
Despite the number of reports suggesting that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a negative influence of the squad, Ambrosini believes that the 30-year-old striker has proved over the years that he is one of the best and that the rumours are untrue. It is thought that the Swedish striker, who is expected to excel at the Euro 2012, made some comments about the club's financial situation, which has angered the board and the owner. Yet, Ambrosini has said that he has seen none of the misdemeanour with Zlatan Ibrahimovic during his time at AC Milan.
"I hold Ibra in high esteem and I have a lot of affection for him because he’s a winner and a good man. His ways are not always the best but he does stimulate himself and his team-mates. n the recent past, the team was forced to let go of two Ballon d’Or winners in Kaka and [Andriy] Shevchenko but the team was still able to keep winning. Milan have come to a fundamental turning point; the most important one that I can remember. It’s the biggest change since I’ve been at the club, really massive," said Ambrosini.
